Place students with basic math knowledge into the appropriate sequential math course
The College Math Placement Test consists of 32 randomized multiple-choice questions. Developed by Ed Laughbaum, the director of the Ohio Early Mathematics Placement Testing Program, this early math placement test determines which next-level math course students with basic-level math skills are suited for best. This test has been in use for 30 years, and places more than 25,000 students a year into basic math, elementary algebra, intermediate algebra, college algebra, or precalculus courses.
We suggest giving students an hour to complete this test and allowing the use of graphing calculators without CAS.
